About Talkworks

Talkworks Training and Development Ltd. was established in 2013 by Alex Clapson – Company Director. According to the scale and needs of work he is commissioned on, Alex works with a select group of Associates who bring their own unique sets of skills.

Alex honed his leadership and management skills over 25 years in the private, public and third sectors. He has both the commercial insight, and an understanding of the people elements of running a business which enable him to add value to the organisations with whom he works.
Alex has a passion for personal and professional development, and is always seeking new and innovative ideas and solutions. He particularly looks for applied and practical ‘what works’ type approaches.

In 2011, Alex was appointed as the Head of Coaching and Mentoring for the Welsh Government and Lead Trainer for Change Management Programmes. He continues to practice as a Coach & Mentor, bringing the Coaching Management style into other areas of his work.

Over the past few years, Alex has been developing Action Learning Sets with a number of organisations. He has also been offering independent Supervision to managers and has developed a number of training courses to improve the quality of Supervision in organisations.

Alex Clapson - Director

Alex’s qualifications include a Master’s Degree in Economics and Applied Social Studies, Post Graduate Diplomas in Applied Social Studies and Social Work. He has also studied Workplace Mentoring at Master’s Degree level.

Alex is a qualified and experienced Coach, Facilitator, Chairperson, Mediator and Trainer. In recent years, he has developed and delivered training programmes across Europe for Private Sector, Public Services (including numerous Government Departments) and Third Sector / Charitable organisations. Alex has also served as an Organisational Development Advisor with Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO) in West Africa.

Alex began teaching at Swansea University on the Social Work programme in 1998. In January 2014, he was recognised for his ongoing contribution by being nominated for the position of Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Public Health, Policy, and Social Sciences, teaching at both under-graduate & post-graduate (BSc. & MSc.) levels. Alex is a qualified, registered and practising Social Worker.

When not working, Alex enjoys gardening, walking, playing his guitar and motorcycle touring.
